Pixel 8 vs iPhone 15?

I'm torn. The Pixel 8's camera seems amazing, especially for low-light photography, and I love the Google Assistant integration. However, I'm already invested in the Apple ecosystem with an iPad and MacBook. Is the convenience of staying within that ecosystem worth sacrificing the Pixel's superior camera and potentially lower price?

If you're deep in the Apple ecosystem, the iPhone 15 makes sense for seamless integration (AirDrop, Handoff, iMessage). However, if photography is a top priority and you're willing to use Google Photos or other workarounds for file sharing, the Pixel 8’s camera will likely be more satisfying. Consider how much you value ecosystem convenience versus camera performance.

If camera is your top priority, the Pixel 8 probably wins. Its computational photography is generally considered better for everyday shots, especially of people and in tricky lighting. The iPhone 15 is great, but its strengths are more in video and a 'cleaner' more natural look that some find less immediately impressive. For longevity, both should be fine for 4 years, but Apple tends to support devices with software updates for longer than Google, so iPhone has a slight edge there. The performance difference for your usage (social media, YouTube) will be negligible.

Pixel 8 excels in low-light photography with its computational photography. iPhone 15 provides generally brighter images in daylight. For indoor sports, Pixel's fast focus is advantageous. iPhone's screen is slightly brighter, better for direct sunlight readability. Battery life is comparable, leaning slightly towards iPhone. Consider which camera aspect is more critical: low-light clarity (Pixel) or overall brightness (iPhone).
