Is Phoenix better than Las Vegas?

I need to pick between Phoenix and Las Vegas for a new job, but I'm torn. I'm a single guy in my late 20s, and I like hiking and the outdoors, but I also enjoy having a decent nightlife scene. My salary would be roughly the same in either city, so cost of living and overall vibe are the main factors. Which city offers a better balance?

Phoenix likely wins for outdoors. You have easy access to hiking trails and desert landscapes. Vegas has Red Rock Canyon, but it's not quite the same. Vegas wins on nightlife, hands down. Phoenix has some spots, but it doesn't compare to the Strip. Cost of living is probably a wash, maybe a slight edge to Phoenix, but it depends on where you live in each city. Considering you like both outdoors and nightlife, Vegas might be more fun.

Vegas is likely going to be more expensive overall, especially when it comes to venues and potentially hotels depending on when you book. Phoenix can be more spread out, so transportation is key. While Vegas has the Strip, which is walkable, getting to other parts of the city can still require taxis/rideshares. Look into specific venue costs and transportation options (like the light rail in Phoenix) to get a clearer picture. Also, consider what kind of 'going out' your attendees prefer. Vegas is known for clubs and high-end experiences, while Phoenix might offer a more laid-back bar scene.
