Samsung Odyssey G7 or LG UltraGear 27GP850?

I'm torn between the Samsung Odyssey G7 (specifically the 27-inch model) and the LG UltraGear 27GP850. My main use is for competitive FPS gaming, so response time and refresh rate are key. I've heard the G7 has better contrast and deeper blacks, but the LG has better color accuracy and wider viewing angles. I'm also concerned about the G7's aggressive curvature, as I've never used a curved monitor before. Is the curve distracting? I have an RTX 3070, so I can push high refresh rates at 1440p. Which monitor is the better choice for minimizing ghosting and input lag, while still providing a good overall image quality?

For competitive gaming and minimizing ghosting within your budget, the LG 27GP850 is the safer bet. While the G7 has better contrast, its aggressive curve and black crush issues can be distracting. The LG's Nano IPS panel offers a fast response time and consistent performance across different refresh rates. You can tweak the overdrive settings to eliminate most ghosting without introducing overshoot. The color accuracy is a bonus even if you don't need it professionally.

The LG UltraGear 27GP850 is the safer bet for competitive FPS. While the G7's contrast is appealing, its VA panel can exhibit black smearing in fast-paced games, a problem the LG's IPS panel largely avoids. Input lag is similarly lower on the LG. The curve on the G7 is a personal preference, but it can introduce distortion, especially if you are not sitting directly in the center. For competitive play, response time and clarity outweigh marginal contrast improvements.
