PlayStation 5 vs Xbox Series X?

I'm on the fence about which console to get this holiday season. My main concern is future-proofing since my last console lasted me nearly 8 years. I care a lot about game availability and overall performance. Is one clearly better in terms of exclusive titles or raw power?

If you prioritize exclusive single-player titles and already have a good TV/sound setup, the PS5 is probably the better fit. Its exclusives often showcase advanced graphics and audio. While the Xbox Series X is technically more powerful on paper, the difference isn't always noticeable in practice and its strength lies more in Game Pass and cross-platform titles.

The Series X boasts slightly more teraflops, but real-world performance differences in most cross-platform games are minimal. Exclusives are subjective; PlayStation has traditionally stronger single-player narratives, while Xbox focuses on Game Pass and a wider range of genres. Game Pass offers immense value if you like trying many games.

If your TV lacks HDMI 2.1, the Series X's resolution advantage is significantly diminished. You won't be able to experience true 4K at 120Hz. The PS5 becomes the more logical choice given your existing setup and preference for exclusives.
