Is Miami worth living in?

I'm weighing a job offer in Miami, but cost of living seems insane. Is it worth the hype, considering the salaries don't seem to match the expenses? I'm particularly concerned about housing costs relative to average income.

Expect to pay a premium for housing, especially near the beach or in trendy neighborhoods like Brickell. Public transportation is improving but not comprehensive, so factor in ride-sharing costs if you want to explore beyond a small radius. Hurricane season can also impact insurance rates and require some emergency preparedness spending.

Property taxes are high, and insurance rates are even higher, especially near the coast. Factor those into your budget beyond just rent or mortgage payments. Public transportation is not great, so you'll need a car, adding another expense. The job market outside of hospitality and tourism can be limited depending on your field. On the plus side, there's no state income tax.
