Is Atlanta better than Dallas?
I'm trying to figure out where to move for a new job in the Southwest. The salary is roughly the same in both cities, so cost of living and overall vibe are more important. I'm in my late 20s and single, so a good social scene is a must. I also care about access to outdoor activities, like hiking or biking trails. Which city offers a better balance?

Dallas has no state income tax, which is a big plus. Atlanta's property taxes can be lower depending on the specific county, but you'll pay state income tax. Both have awful traffic, but Atlanta's public transportation is arguably slightly better, although still not great. The music scene in Atlanta is definitely more vibrant and diverse. Dallas is more corporate, while Atlanta has a more artsy, creative vibe. If you want cheaper housing overall, look to the Dallas suburbs, but Atlanta's cost of living is a bit lower in the city core.

Dallas has a slightly lower cost of living, particularly when it comes to housing, but Atlanta's got a more vibrant cultural scene and better access to nature. Public transportation is generally better in Atlanta too. Social scene depends on your vibe; Dallas is more corporate, Atlanta more diverse.
