Is $95k enough in Austin?
I'm moving to Austin for a new job, and they're offering me $95,000. I'm single, no kids, and pretty frugal. I'm mainly worried about being able to afford a decent apartment in a safe area and still save a bit each month. Is that salary enough to live comfortably, or will I be stretching myself too thin? I don't need a fancy lifestyle, but I also don't want to live paycheck to paycheck.

That salary is definitely doable, but location is key. You'll want to focus on neighborhoods outside the immediate downtown core if you're aiming to save a good chunk of your income. Consider areas like North Austin, Round Rock, or even some parts of South Austin further from the city center. Look into apartments that aren't brand new, as they'll be significantly cheaper. Also, factor in transportation costs – owning a car in Austin can be expensive with insurance and gas, so look at public transit options or consider biking if that's feasible for your commute.
