Is $100k enough in Orlando?

My wife and I are considering relocating to Orlando for a job opportunity, but the salary is $100k combined. We have a toddler and a small dog. Is that enough to live comfortably, factoring in childcare costs, rent (we'd prefer a safe neighborhood), and general living expenses without feeling super pinched all the time? We don't need to live in luxury, but we also don't want to be constantly stressed about money.

It's doable but will require careful budgeting. Childcare in Orlando is expensive, easily $1200-$2000 per month depending on the type of care. A safe neighborhood will likely mean higher rent, expect at least $2000-$2500 for a decent 2-3 bedroom place. That leaves you with roughly $3500-$4000 a month for everything else (food, utilities, transportation, healthcare, etc.). It's possible, but you'll need to track your spending and make some choices. Consider looking at areas slightly outside the main tourist zones for potentially better deals on housing.

You can definitely make it work, though "comfortable" is subjective. Housing will likely be your biggest expense, and prices have gone up. Expect to pay at least $1800-$2500 for a decent 2-bedroom in a safe area. Property taxes are relatively high in Florida if you decide to buy later. $100k provides a solid base to live reasonably well if you're mindful of your spending.
