Is $100k enough in Miami?

I'm relocating for work, and my salary will be $100k. I'm single, no kids, and pretty minimalist. I don't need to live right on South Beach, but I want to be in a safe area with things to do – decent restaurants, maybe some live music. I'm hoping to rent a 1-bedroom apartment. Is it doable without feeling super broke all the time?

That salary in Miami can work, but location is key. Look into neighborhoods like Brickell, Downtown, or even areas slightly further out like Coconut Grove or Coral Gables if you want more space for your money. Expect to spend a significant portion of your income on rent – probably $2500-$3500/month depending on the building and amenities. Factor in transportation costs (parking can be expensive), groceries (generally higher than average), and entertainment. Budget carefully, and you should be able to maintain a comfortable lifestyle.

That salary could be tight with two kids, especially considering Miami's high housing costs. Look closely at areas outside the main city center to find more affordable options. Childcare will also be a significant expense, potentially eating into any savings. Consider private vs. public school options too, as that can impact your budget significantly. Healthcare costs should also be factored in.
